  There are three varities of steelhead trout in the Salmon River right now and they are: 1. Fresh, incoming Salmon River NY Steelhead Trout, 2. Ready to spawn and have been in our Salmon River for a while now Salmon River NY Steelhead Trout, and 3. Heading back to Lake Ontario New York, already spawned out Salmon River NY Steelhead Trout. What does this mean to fly fishermen? It means that it's absolute peak spring steelhead season on the Salmon River in Pulaski New York and the time is now. We only have two ABSOLUTE PRIME months of spring steelhead fishing and they are the months of March & April. People ask us if the fishing will be "good" in two weeks from now and honestly, I have no idea! That's up to Mother Nature and we all know that conditions can change
within 24 hrs. here in Pulaski New York. The window of opportunity is only open so far and the time is now to fish for NY Steelhead, Brown Trout, and Rainbow Trout. The weather is in the 40's and the sun is shining. When planning your trip, please take a look at the extended weather forecast and factor that in.
